PLUTO – The Planetary Symbol of Renewal

(Passion, Exposure, Transformation, Evolution)

With Pluto I enter the depths of my psyche
Exploring the fear that my ego will end
By facing my shadow I let it transform me
And that’s when I find out that Pluto’s my friend

Just as an earthquake or a volcano permanently alters the face and form of the land, the major transformations we undergo demonstrate that there is no returning to the way it was before; the change is irrevocable. Once something has lived out its time, there is nothing that can be done except to let go and release all former attachments.

If I make the choice to let go, I can use the force of Pluto to extract the energy that has been locked-up and transform it, supplying it with a new function and a new value in an ever-changing world.

Pluto represents the cosmic kiss of death. Death in Pluto’s realm does not necessarily mean the end of life–it can merely mean the severing of a false identity. Through the principle Pluto represents, those who selfishly seek personal power and glory are brought to their knees and become non-entities. If individuals undergoing such a metamorphosis are empowered by the strength of their will, they can survive the ordeal and rekindle their lives from the ashes of their shattered reality. Making a connection to an invisible source of power beyond the world of appearances, they can experience a rebirth and fulfill a new role that carries cosmic responsibility.

Pluto is an extremely intensified version of the Mars principle. We use the force of Pluto, however, to deal with the enemy within us, rather than defend ourselves from the perceived enemy outside (which we are inclined to do when working with the force of Mars.)

As we absorb the truth Pluto represents, we can reach the understanding that the external world is but a projection reflecting back to us the very qualities we are attempting to conceal in ourselves. We can cease pointing the blame at others and confront our own self-loathing; using the transformational energy of Pluto to alter patterns of self-destructive behavior. In this way, we experience a rebirth and move ahead with a profound sense of purpose in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds.

Pluto’s tiny presence is barely noticed; it is small enough to have motivated some astronomers to demote it to the rank of a mere asteroid or dwarf planet. Pluto, however, has an astral reality far greater than its physical dimensions for it represents the force that can recreate life, a power that is truly divine.

NEPTUNE – The Planetary Symbol of Inspiration

(Imagination, Compassion, Transcendence, Unity)

I travel on from day to day, knowing how I feel
Imagining I experience you, believing I am real
What I sense I am becoming is all I want to be
The ‘I’ that is in you and the ‘you’ that is in me

An individual does not perceive its relationship to the whole of life through mind alone. There is the need as well to increase one’s sensitivity until a unity beyond mind and matter is recognized-a unity through which each separate identity is intimately joined. Through Neptune, the love energy of Venus is exquisitely intensified. Romantic love is raised to a higher vibration and becomes unconditional. The love that the principle of Neptune inspires is a love without reservation-a love that goes beyond pride, vanity and ego gratification. The consciousness of Neptune inspires all the art and beauty that exists, rescuing life from the doldrums and from a sense of futility. We can use Neptune’s subtle energy as a calming force to get through some of the saddest times in our life. Neptune is a symbol of poignant emotion. It teaches us to develop empathy for the pains that we see others suffering. When we open up to the energy of Neptune, we are inspired to move into a new role as an artist and compassionate healer.

Neptune is in my first house (A thousand faces)
I have a chameleon-like ability to project anything I want. Even when I do not see a situation the way anyone else does, I can make it look like I am in agreement. I have an amazing gift for blending in with others, yet more often I am removed from any reality except my own. My abilities can best be put to use in an artistic capacity. I have great compassion as well.

Neptune is in my second house (Treasure hunt)

I have a dreamy attitude towards the practical aspects of existence. I want to cultivate spiritual values rather than cling to material attachments. Still, I love beauty in all forms. Sometimes I trust that I will have whatever I need by some magical twist of fate; at other times, I worry I will be destitute.

Neptune is in my third house
(Wishful thinking)
I perceive subtle dimensions of reality that help me to gain rare insight into every situation. I do not quite give up on obtaining the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. In putting so much energy into believing in the unbelievable, I surprise both myself and others by seeing some of my beliefs become increasingly evident.

Neptune is in my fourth house (Lit up from the inside)
I open up to extra-dimensional energies. Through this process, I begin to experience my connection to the whole of life and clearly understand what the universe is asking of me. This is how I get in touch with a truth that everyone will learn some day-there is no one out there to blame for my life emanates from me and me alone.

Neptune is in my fifth house (The incurable romantic)
There is an artist in me longing to transmute my spiritual vision into creative expressions of rare beauty. I have the planet of inspiration in the house of self-expression. This identifies me as someone who courts the muse and develops magical talents. I may be misunderstood, as I am seldom what I seem. My love is not of this world.

Neptune is in my sixth house (Work like you don’t need the money)
I have the planetary energy of inspiration in the house of perspiration to teach me about serving for the sake of service rather than for purely personal gain. I want to be helpful to people and do work that offers spiritual rewards. My health will suffer if my daily routine is drudgery that leaves me feeling apathetic. My daily routine needs more magic.

Neptune is in my seventh house (Are you the one?)
I tend to be gullible in relationship and easily duped. I could avoid deception, however, I accept other people in my heart without reservation. I tend to lose my sense of separateness in the presence of each person I meet. What I seek is a partner who understands me and truly cares. I would love them unconditionally.

Neptune is in my eighth house
(Look for the silver lining)
I may cast the illusion of having reached a transformational state of enlightenment, when I actually feel out of touch with what is going on around me. I place partners on pedestals, embracing the hope that this time the real thing has arrived in my life. It is never quite the real thing though, merely a dream that I could half believe for a little while. Still, the light of day is never far from me.

Neptune is in my ninth house (Next stop, Planet X)
My imagination soars as the planet of dreams is given the widest field in which to explore its possibilities. I long to discover a higher purpose for my life and my search may take me to the far corners of the universe. In between, I will probably get to visit some magical spots right here on Planet Earth. I want to make sure that my fervent belief in my vision as the best of all possible worlds does not border on fanatical idealism.

Neptune is in my tenth house
(The illusionist)
I am amazing in being able to embody the perfect image of my professional role. I create an appearance of triumph, although it may be far from the existing reality. It is not just enough for me to have material power-I want spiritual power. I can have it if compassionate service and not personal glory becomes my criterion for success.

Neptune is in my eleventh house (Hope springs eternal)
I seek to come into alignment with people who share my dreams of creating something beautiful. It need not be practical as much as it fulfills my yearning and theirs for an endeavor beyond the commonplace. I have an idealistic vision and am subject to feelings of disappointment with others. Still, I hope I never give up on friends, as long as they do not give up on me.

Neptune is in my twelfth house
(Fantasy Island)
I either take the path of devotion and quiet contemplation or attempt to escape from reality all together. Other worlds beckon my spirit to take flight and transcend ordinary living. My sensitivity is soothed by the music of the spheres. I can make constructive use of my flight into fantasy and create beautiful works of art or I can ascend to the highlands of spirit, thus giving the people who stay on the ground something that inspires them.

JUPITER – Creating New Possibilities

If Jupiter were a person, that person might be a benevolent rich uncle or your guardian angel or Lady Luck herself. If Saturn were a person, that person might be a stern taskmaster insisting on solid proof that you know what you are doing, or a banker demanding you make good on the money he loaned you, or the devil incarnate who sends you out on your own and shows you no pity, so that you can acquire the strength to master your life. Together, these cosmic principles forge the maturation process in each one of us and prepare us to embrace the freedom promised by the outer planets–Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

JUPITER – Creating New Possibilities
(FAITH)

Jupiter is bounteous-he’s rich and he’s fat
The one to believe in when you’re up at bat
He’s not only abundant; he’s a real lucky bloke
He knows that scarcity is just a cosmic joke

My Jupiter indicates the advantage that has been given to me that allows me to move through certain situations with ease. It is the planetary energy that promotes enthusiasm, promises increase and puts all the odds in my favor-if I am willing to take that extra leap of faith.

Jupiter can bring honor to anything that is touched by its grace. Through its benevolent energy, life becomes more auspicious. When opportunity knocks and I open the door to the possibility of abundant good fortune, I may attribute my blessings to luck. Luck, however, is the outcome of my decision to open up in the first place, as Lady Luck bestows her favors on those who are receptive.

The pitfall is promising more than can be delivered, because Jupiter’s promise is total. Like the wild card, Jupiter swears that I am sure to win no matter what. Over-inflation and a refusal to call things to a halt can land me in a place worse than before I started working with this expansive energy.

Once limits have been set, the awareness I develop through Jupiter’s vibrations can make life seem more meaningful. It can contribute to the realization that I have a place in the greater scheme of things. As I resonate to this vibration, I experience the universe moving through me and propelling me forward onto joyous pathways of social and spiritual fulfillment.

SATURN – Mastering My Life
(COMMITMENT)

The planet of fear is really a dear
A sheep in wolf’s clothing promising a career
Cracking a whip and whipping us into shape
Our cross to bear becomes a piece of cake

The ringed planet is a symbol of the power that separates the individual from the crowd and offers the assurance of autonomy if self-discipline is exercised and excellence is achieved. The Saturn principle is a great teacher from whom I learn to regulate my energies in constructive ways and establish a public identity that is recognized and accepted in the world.

The principle of Saturn is antithetical to the principle of the Sun. The Sun is a symbol of unlimited life force. The radiations that my solar force is capable of emitting would be invasive to others if I did not establish suitable boundaries. Saturn represents the limits I must place on the solar force at my command. Initially, I may respond to these limitations in a fearful way, until I step into maturity and see the reason that I have Saturn in my life.

The collective use of the Saturn principle determines the laws that unite a society. These laws demand I accomplish something I have never done before and insist that I succeed in spite of my inexperience. Saturn represents the climb I undertake to reach the zenith of what I am capable of attaining, a climb that seems long and hard. The principle of Saturn is associated with the tests in my life that never seem to stop and the ordeals I must brave again and again to make sure I am tough enough to stick to my commitment. I learn to exercise caution in making these commitments, for once I start something in earnest, I must finish it if I want to be successful.

Exposing the imperfections that are limiting my advancement, the laws of Saturn instruct me on how to get organized and follow through with all that I have set into motion. Saturn symbolizes what I must do in making my way through this world being true to who I am. As I begin healing the flaws in my character, I surmount any fears I have that I could possibly fail. In going through this process, I begin to realize the purpose of the Saturn principle and why it has been necessary to submit to the tests that seem to have been laid out for me.

Saturn represents justice. As I sow through the force of crystallization, whatever I add to life is returned to me through the law of conservation. On Saturn’s testing ground, I am either assigned a hard job or given a hard time. This is how I build into my character enough strength and security to overcome my fears. I am then ready to move on and embrace levels of consciousness that open me up to the wonderful wisdom of the universe.
