An astrological chart is a blueprint indicating the potentials a newborn is endowed with to grow in consciousness. Just as the DNA holds the key to our physical development, so the subtle energies the universe gives to each one of us at birth is the key to our spiritual development. The way the solar system is patterned at a specific time of birth (as seen by the human eye from the vantage point of the Earth) illustrates the patterns of energy the newborn has to work with. Planets and stars are symbols, symbols of energetic tools a newborn has to use. They are letters of the alphabet of the astrological language rather than direct causes of human behavior. One’s character is the product of one’s choices; it is the wisdom in the soul that gives the energies represented in the birth chart the power to fulfill their promise in a positive, life-affirming way.

This report covers Elena’s entire journey. It is a life reading designed to help her loved ones understand her potentials and the challenges she is here to face and to master. Much of what is said will not be apparent for years to come, yet by realizing the nature of her interior landscape and the lessons that her soul is here to learn, it can support Elena in a way that most benefits her growth and development.

Pisces Rising with Uranus on the Ascendant, the North Node in Aries on the cusp of the Second House, Mars in Taurus in the Third House, Saturn in Leo in the Sixth House, the Moon in Virgo on the cusp of the Seventh House, Sun in Libra in the Seventh House, Mercury and Jupiter in Libra in the Eighth House, Venus in Scorpio in the Ninth House, Pluto in Sagittarius in the Tenth House, Neptune in Aquarius in the Eleventh House.

Elena has brought with her soul memories of lifetimes in which relationships were all important. Other supported her heavily in lifetimes past causing her to lose a sense of her boundaries. Thus the soul of Elena became  codependent.  It was through the energy of others that the soul lived a charmed life in the past--a life of ease that was not primarily earned by its own efforts (the south node in Libra on the cusp of the eighth house). The pain the soul carries into this life, (as we all bring some energy here to heal), was due to an inability to discriminate what was ultimately in its own best interests and what was not. So willing was the soul to comply with the wishes of others in order to enjoy the benefits of a pleasurable existence, that it now enters life with recollections of constantly surrendering its own truth. Deep in the soul are memories of depending too much upon the good intentions of others and the sagacity and correctness of their judgment.

What is noteworthy about Elena’s chart is that the same tendencies the soul has had in the past are likely to be repeated in this life. Only now, there are some major differences that will enable the difficulties of the past to be amended. The consciousness that Elena has been endowed with is certain to become increasingly discriminating (the Moon in Virgo) and to discern what is and what is not legitimate.

The Moon in Virgo is a meticulous and somewhat skeptical Moon. Since the Moon is what we receive from life,  Elena can develop a way of carefully analyzing whatever is presented to her to determine if it is something of authentic value. The Virgo Moon will provide Elena with a fastidious nature and support her in embracing only those things in life that are in her best interests.

Virgo, the part of human consciousness most focused on daily physical maintenance, is the perfect energy for someone who is here to learn how to take care of body and mind and make good health  a priority. In some way, it is likely that Elena will be involved with the field of health, especially since Saturn, the planet of mastery, is in the sixth house--the department of life experience where healthy physical maintenance is the central focus.

Having the Moon in Virgo and Saturn in the sixth house is definitely beneficial because the sign Pisces is the sign that was rising when Elena first came into the world. It is a symbol of her outlook and approach to life. Pisces, the opposite sign to Virgo, is comprehensive and inclusive and tends to steer away from any sort of restrictive limits. Pisces wants to identify and embrace everything it contacts, as it represents the ultimate development in human consciousness. The aim with Pisces is to lose any sense of separation from the whole. Thus, Elena will have a great opportunity as well as a great challenge as she keeps shifting. She first approaches a situation in a way that is open, trusting (to the point of being gullible) and all-embracing (Pisces rising).  Later, she switches tracks and becomes skeptical and selective (the Virgo Moon). The latter path is likely to be amplified by her parents.

The Virgo Moon experiences the early home life as an arena where practical competence as well as judicious discernment is emphasized. This Moon gives a soul a busy life. The individual who has this placement is here to learn how to become proficient on the earth plane and useful and productive in everyday life, mastering techniques and developing time saving, energy efficient methods. Elena’s soul will be given the chance to learn how to overcome a fear of being let down by others by penetrating into a situation and viewing it realistically. Elena can make additional progress by mastering useful skills that place her on the road to self sufficiency. Then the inclination to lean on others will be erased, which is the potential of her north node (the soul’s future direction), placed in the independent sign of Aries.

As Elena’s  rising sign is Pisces, the sense that her experiences in life are guiding her to develop the traits of discernment, practicality  and selectivity may seem to be a burden to her at times. Her awareness may tend to drift when the current circumstances fail to satisfy her and she could easily lose her focus in the present. The mundane world of monotonous routine breeds discontentment in an individual with Pisces rising, who instead longs for experiences that are imbued with beauty, magic, fantasy and love. It will surely take many years for Elena to overcome a susceptibility to disillusionment. It will take time for her to realize that she alone is responsible for the way she perceives the world.

More than any other rising sign, the individual with the sign Pisces on the ascendant in their chart has the imaginative power and spiritual connectivity to visualize reality the way they would like it to be. Still Elena will need to set limits and not succumb to impossible expectations. Paradoxically the more she allows the realistic training of her Virgo Moon to take hold, the more magic she will be able to create. It is through her Libra consciousness, the energy of balance, that Elena can learn how to merge magical thinking with systematic order  and produce work that is both effective and marvelous.

The Virgo Moon is on the descendant, where the individual meets the world of others with all their beliefs and opinions. Thus, it is through relationships (parents, teachers, peers) that Elena can learn to pare down her vision. While she is geared to creating synthesis when by herself (Pisces rising), in the presence of others, she becomes analytical (Virgo descending.) The closer she becomes involved with other people, the more astute and discerning she can be. Her analysis of the imperfections that she perceives as belonging to people she relates to eventually leads Elena to correct these qualities in herself.

An accurate analogy of the Pisces ascending, Virgo descending personality is Cinderella. When ordered to clean up everyone else’s mess, she is embodying Virgo, the modest housekeeper who accepts her role as a humble servant. When all dolled up and sent off to the ball by a wave of the magic wand, she is the Piscean princess who lives in a world where wishes come true and dreams become reality. Separately, neither one is adequate for success in life. Together and in proper balance, they bring a human being as close to perfection as possible for both Virgo and Pisces are the signs of the perfectionist. What Elena is here to learn, however, is that work done in the pursuit of perfection is conceit. Her true calling is to be in the service of love. No energy enables a human being to connect with life in a loving way, as Pisces does. No energy teaches a person how to set boundaries on their love, and thus prevent hurt and disappointment, as effectively as Virgo.

The sign of Libra is the Sun sign, the Mercury sign and the Jupiter sign in Elena’s chart. Those born under the star sign of Libra aim to create harmony and engender good feelings with others. They are sensitive to friction and endeavor to smooth out the rough spots in a situation with their charm and diplomacy (not to mention their physical beauty).  

In the chart, the south node indicates the quality of the composite consciousness  inherited from the past. Elena has brought in soul memories where the experiences Libra generates were already predominant in her psyche, as suggested by the Moon’s south node positioned in Libra. Therefore, Elena may be able to avert the pitfalls Libra is subject to and learn to stand up for herself early on in the game, rather than suffer fools and put up with their nonsense for too long.  The main issue is in how she learns to do this.

While predisposed to be agreeable and cooperative, Elena may sometimes behave in a manner that stirs up controversial situations. If she simply went along acquiescing and agreeing with others all the time, she would be a wimp with no identity of her own. Thus, the way she learns to exert personal power is by standing up for the point-of-view that opposes the one being put forth, until finally arriving at a meeting of the minds. Libra is dichotomous. One half of Elena  will aim to please so that she can gain approval and feel validated. The other half will tend to gauge the balance of power, juggle all the available options and then go into action, at last, to make adjustments that serve to equalize a situation.

Elena’s modus operandi will tend to involve examining the polarities of a situation in an attempt to find a balancing point. She will be inclined to listen to people as they express their opinion and to give what they say due consideration, as long as they speak in a civil tongue. Accordingly, Elena will learn to express her ideas with moderation and appeal to a cross-section of the population instead of coming across as someone who speaks only from a space of self-interest. Eventually, this will allow her to communicate in truthful terms that are non offensive.

Elena’s placement of Mars in Taurus in the third house, the house of information and knowledge, will slowly yet surely assist her in building the communication skills that substantiate her ability to speak persuasively yet tactfully with discretion and finesse. Verbal mastery combined with a diplomatic delivery will be her goal. This is one of the links connecting Elena's destiny with her father's. The combination of articulate speech and artful graciousness--producing enlightened communication--has been a goal that his soul has chosen to master in this life.

There is still another, and even more important link in the charts between Elena and her father, and that is the placement of Saturn in Leo.  Saturn is the esoteric lord of karma and the mundane planet of justice and Leo is first and foremost, the capacity to give love.

Saturn in Leo is a challenging position because it motivates a person to want to be important and self-importance can all too easily become the downfall of humanity. As humanitarianism is the most essential quality of Leo’s opposite sign Aquarius, the nature of Leo is autocratic and authoritarian rather than egalitarian. In other words, Leo is more inclined to arrogance and hubris than any other astrological energy.

Now having the Sun in Leo is fine because it helps to build courage, confidence and a strong and centered sense of self. Saturn, however, is the antithesis  of the Sun’s meaning. Saturn teaches individuals how to play the game by the rules and move into compliance with the desires of society. It likes to be in the collectively minded  signs of Capricorn and Aquarius.

In Leo, a highly personal and somewhat biased consciousness, the will of the individual takes precedence over society’s seal of approval.

Human beings do learn from the errors of the past however. There is another side to Saturn in Leo that gives an individual the power to follow their heart and overcome enormous resistance. If they have a true belief in what they want to do--the courage of their convictions--Saturn in Leo individuals can turn the tide of public opinion. They are then able to create a more positive expression of an idea that has not yet captured the public’s fancy--making something that seemed unappetizing, suddenly seem desirable.  Taking note in Elena’s chart of energetically assertive Mars in the sign of Taurus and magnetic Venus in the opposite sign of Scorpio helps to provide additional insight as to how this concept is likely to play out in her life.

Mars in Taurus can certainly be a hedonist, especially in regard to food (The throat is Taurus’ anatomical counterpart and Taurus finds it challenging to deny the pleasures of the throat). On the other hand, Venus in Scorpio opposing Mars in Elena’s chart can assist her in transforming anything that slows down the flow of her energy. Venus in Scorpio wants peak experiences and so must lighten up the physical vehicle in order to vibrate at higher frequencies. Every pleasure from gustatory to sexual is to be transmuted when Venus in Scorpio opposes Mars in a chart. As she grows, Elena will realize that she is not going to fulfill all her desires until she starts wanting other things instead. Elena can operate at high frequencies and manage them successfully. Once she learns to discipline the demands of her ego and consume products and engage in practices only if they nurture her well being, she will become a clear cosmic receptor and channel. Once she walks the talk, the space will open up for her to pass on her knowledge to others.

Leo represents anything we do in which we reproduce ourselves--through children of the mind, the body and the spirit. This includes the way we treat the next generation. If Leo, more than anything, represents our ability to give from an open heart, then having Saturn there in some way blocks that energy. It is a dual process--the individual did not receive the heart energy it was seeking while growing up and thus the ability to shine forth is inhibited. Saturn in Leo individuals lack confidence at times because they feel under appreciated.  Some astrologers who treat reincarnation as a personal (rather than a universal) process report that this is because individuals with the Leo Saturn were VIP’s (or at least people of privilege) in other lives. Now, they come back with less attention and less power coming their way and it disappoints and deflates their ego.

The disappointment and frustration in not feeling truly loved is nevertheless a motivating tool for the Saturn in Leo individual. They learn to compensate by making sure people eventually do notice and defer to what they are doing. They seem to remember that they were big shots before and they want to be big shots again. As both father and daughter have the Leo Saturn, they can support one another in healing this issue and turning it into a radiantly positive expression.

There is a fine line between loving a child unconditionally and spoiling a child. Disciplining children is just as much a sign of love as indulging a child. Still, children want to receive discipline in a way that enables  them to see that it is an act of love. The soul of Elena wants her parents to teach her self- discipline. It is, however, the way she experiences the energy behind their instructions that determines how successfully they are communicating their love for her. What Elena wants is to learn how to discipline herself and manage her life wisely on her own. At the same time, she wants her loved ones to be there for her at all times--and not just now and then or not just when she does what they want.

Elena, like her father, is here to master the ability to channel heart energy into work, energy she will be keeping in reserve for just the right times. As a result,  certain information that is hard for people to hear can be expressed with love and balanced by some light hearted humor. In that way, people can safely open up to the information without fear that some loss will be involved. Elena has come to inherit and assist her father in his mission and in time take it to a new level where it becomes even more effective.

Elena has the planet Pluto placed a mere five degrees from the midheaven (the highest point of the chart). When Pluto, the most potent force in our astrological solar system, stands at the chart’s zenith, the individual eventually surrenders their conditioned personality. They then become  an agent for change, fulfilling a cosmic purpose that will forever alter the scheme of things.

In mythology, Pluto was the lord of the underworld. Pluto also symbolizes the phoenix, the mythological bird who resurrects itself from its own dead ashes.

From a Christian perspective, Pluto symbolizes the awakened Christ within, the anointed one who achieves self-mastery and is given the power to overcome the forces of death and darkness. All of these symbols refer to the same concept, the death of the ‘small self’ and the emergence of the ‘great self’(The Father and I are one.)

Those singled out by Pluto stand apart from the rest of their species and see what others refuse to see until many years down the road. They are the special ones, as that is what they have chosen (Saturn in Leo.) In Elena’s case,  once she remembers who she really is, and who we all really are, then she can become Pluto’s favorite, channeling the will of the evolutionary universe onto the material plane and into the hearts and minds of its inhabitants.
