The Outer Planets
The rings of Saturn symbolize a line of demarcation that separates terrestrial sources of energy and information from extra-terrestrial sources. In a sense, the greater universe begins with Uranus. Saturn is the boundary of our earthy enclosure, serving to protect the residents of Planet Earth from receiving the higher octave energies of the outer planets, until they are prepared to manage their intensity.

The energies of the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn are the universal tools an individual uses to create a sense of human identity. The outer planets (Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) can be grasped as greatly intensified versions of the inner planets. They are symbols of evolutionary energies that re-define the entire concept of identity so that human beings can step up to a higher calling and fulfill a cosmic purpose.

In breaking through the barrier of the mind that is solely focused on three-dimensional experience, individuals can connect to the thoughts of the universal mind. It is as if messages are transmitted to individuals from a universal station and each individual tunes into a station according to the frequency of its consciousness. Individuals on a similar wavelength connect to the same frequencies of thought and gravitate toward each other as a result. Through this process, the consciousness of independent individuals is changed, as the message is received that each of us is part of the same mind. Those who awaken to the concept of universal service can become focal points of expression for the principles of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. No individual can change the world; however, the world is sometimes changed through individuals once they are involved in a co-creative process with universal mind.

The outer planets represent a greater reality
Outer planets remain in one of the signs for a long period of time. Uranus takes seven years to traverse a sign, Neptune takes fourteen years and Pluto takes anywhere from sixteen to thirty years. Therefore, the sign an outer planet is passing through indicates a collective process an entire generation of individuals is experiencing instead of one pertaining to any single individual. Studying the outer planets as they slowly move through the different astrological signs runs parallel to comprehending a history of the evolution of human consciousness.
In regard to outer planets, it is important to focus on which one of the houses each of the planets shows up in rather than focus on the sign they occupy in an individual chart, as the signs of the outer planets represent a generational experience rather than a personal one.

If Uranus, Neptune and Pluto are within ten degrees of the first, fourth, seventh or tenth houses (the angular houses) on either side of the house cusp, the individual may serve as a focal point for the evolutionary message the outer planet represents. The cusps of those houses, representing both sides of the horizon and the meridian, are the most energetically powerful areas of the chart. An angular placement of an outer planet in the birth chart amplifies the message the planet is communicating-thus the planetary energy is ripe for manifestation.

A Tribute to URANUS
The planetary symbol of Freedom
(Experimentation, Innovation, Liberation, Progress)

Uranus is far out in the sky
A symbol of change in the blink of an eye
A radical departure from Saturn's decree
A chance for humanity to set itself free

Uranus is an intensified version of Mercury; an energy that vibrates at a higher frequency than the human mind ordinarily does. When we use the energy of Uranus, we see beyond our normal boundaries and move past self-interest to establish a lifeline to our higher self.

Uranus symbolizes mental enlightenment. It represents a consciousness that is freed up from personal prejudice and committed to reforming all that is outdated. In working with this consciousness, a human being has the opportunity to break away from the creaking traditions of old regimes and to usher in inventive solutions to challenges that have lingered on indefinitely. Methods of operation suddenly shift and triumph over continuous resistance to change. Life is far less predictable yet far more exciting. Startling disclosures and brilliant inventions provide breakthroughs that free the human race from its absolute belief systems.
Uranus in the individual chart

On an individual level, as my antenna picks up on the energy of Uranus, it is a sign that I am ready to make unexpected modifications. Uranus represents the impulse that motivates me to keep in step with the changing times.

Uranus is in my first house (The free spirit)
I want to be liberated from restrictions and have the freedom to open up to new experiences. I do not behave the way most people do and this makes it difficult for others to identify with me. My priority is to be a nonconformist and experiment with life. The downside is that my atypical behavior alienates people who prefer to follow convention. The upside is that my life may be far more interesting than theirs.

Uranus is in my second house
(Easy come easy go)
I develop a set of material values that deemphasize self-gratification and amplify more trans-personal ones. My nonchalant attitude toward money and possessions works out better than one might think. I am usually fine with the current level of my finances, especially since in my case, these conditions tend to change very quickly.

Uranus is in my third house (Eccentric perception)
I relate to everyday matters in a detached way. I come right out with what I want to say, sometimes shocking my listeners with ideas that sound off the wall. I stimulate people's thinking and get them to look at current events differently. My thoughts may be radical and upsetting to the status quo, but they also can be brilliant and groundbreaking.

Uranus is in my fourth house (Any place I hang my hat is home)
Changes occur at deep layers of my psyche to liberate me from past memories and break up ingrained habit patterns. My living arrangement is unusual-interesting but not very secure. Rather than having a personal sense of identity, mine is more of an impersonal sense. I have a planetary consciousness.

Uranus is in my fifth house
(Marching to a different drummer)
I live my life as I please. I am wildly original in the ways I express my energies and this captures the attention of others. My inventive approach to a creative project allows me to display my talents in electrifying ways.

Uranus is in my sixth house
(Self-employment)
I want to break free of dull routines and create an exciting means of earning a livelihood. An occupation where I have constant stimulation and an opportunity to experiment is preferred over repetitive work. It is better for my health when I do not have to follow orders that tell me how to do my job.

Uranus is in my seventh house (Changing partners)
I have no difficulty attracting people into my life-my energy is electric in their presence. I do not hesitate to move on from dysfunctional or tired relationships and open up to more exciting ones. I am a catalyst for change and I am here to connect with as many people as possible and touch their lives in thought provoking ways.

Uranus is in my eighth house (I'm on to something)
I am committed to living my life without interference. I often gain an advantage by remaining inscrutable. I am likely to go through powerful transformational experiences. I give my attention to matters many others dismiss as nonsense, but that I know are true.

Uranus is in my ninth house (A bolt out of the blue)
My mind opens up to possibilities that are beyond the scope of the present. I am more interested in discovering the new than repeating steps that have already been taken. Usually other people have to ground my concepts if they are to have any useful application, as my original thinking is more theoretical than practical.

Uranus is in my tenth house (The rebel)
I publicly express ideas that are often construed as disruptive, although some of the reforms I have in mind would probably work. I have the nerve to speak my unexpurgated truth, usually involving my intentions to change the world, or at least my corner of it. Eventually people may accept my ideas that they once dismissed for being too radical, but even if they do not, I refuse to change my mind.

Uranus is in my eleventh house (The activist)
I have a breadth of vision and a grasp of the big picture that enables me to move beyond any personal bias. I am among the first to protest against any infringement of personal liberty. I create a bond with people who have ideas that are as idiosyncratic as mine. I have a diversification of friends and a broad spectrum of interests.

Uranus is in my twelfth house
(Close encounters of the third kind)
I connect with other dimensions where life is played out with different rules and endeavor to bring energies from these dimensions into this world. Sometimes, my attempts backfire. I know eventually, when it is best to leave well enough alone.
